Bagless Tee's

For this project I chose to redesign the packaging for Fruit of the Loom undershirts. I think when it comes to packaging, especially in this day-and-age, we need to consider the environment. There is nothing worse than walking down an aisle in your local Target, Walmart or one of their competitors and just be emersed in plastic. The fact no one has opted for a greener version is all the more reason for a brand to take advantage of this and market themselves as "eco-friendly".

Goal: Design a paperboard carton that will get your product noticed and accepted and move it off the shelf in the retail environment where it is typically sold.

For this project I chose to redesign the packaging for Fruit of the Loom undershirts. I think when it comes to packaging, especially in this day-and-age, we need to consider the environment. The material used would be recycled carboard to blatantly mirror a new earthy, eco-friendly image. This material would be slightly thicker and therefore stronger than the Kraft card-stock I used for my mockup package. Package would be sealed with a clear circle sticker to keep customers from removing the t-shirts. Size “tag” would actually be a sticker put on the box. According to country/language of sale. Box would feature standard plastic hook hanger to be in keeping with how they are sold currently (hanging).

I believe that this packaging is 100 times more aesthetically pleasing versus its current plastic bagging packaging. It remains functional and at the end of the day is more environmentally conscious than its current packaging. The package modernizes the Fruit of the Loom brand separating it from any of its competition. A lot of young men choose to wear these “undershirts” as every day t-shirts and this package would be marketable to this huge audience.
